Security becomes simple and centralized for any connection in Conduit. Connections are run though a central security console that can integrate with your Azure Active Directory for a single sign-on experience, or you can quickly create simple, role-based access rights within Conduit itself.  

About User Security

Conduit enabled users with Admin permissions manage regular users'access with flexible authentication and authorization configuration, all in one place, across all tables and data sources. Use your existing security infrastructure, or quickly and easily create user groups within Conduit. 



User Account Types

There are 2 user types within Conduit:

  • Standard users End-Users/Analysts, allowed to access/perform the following on Conduit website:
    • Connectors page
      • View list of all connectors
      • Create/update/clone/delete (excluding Authorization configuration)
  • Admin users are system admins and have unrestricted access to all pages and functionalities.

Create Conduit User Account

  • There are 2 ways how a user to be created in Conduit:
  • Conduit user with Admin privileges can Add New User
    • Go to Security - User Admin page and click on the Add New User button.
      • Note: The email field should to be unique within Conduit. You cannot create multiple users with the same email
  • Register New Account request can be sent by anyone from the application login page
    • Go to login page and click on Register New Account 
      • You will be asked to fill out:
        • Email - will be used to login to Conduit
        • First Name
        • Last Name
        • Password 
    • After the request to register user account is submitted, it will be routed to approval by Admin user(s). New user will be granted access only after the request is approved. Requests can also be rejected. Approved user will be Standard
      • Log  as user in with Admin credentials, go to Security - User Admin page.
      • Click on Approve Registrations to see request awaiting approval.


Edit Conduit User Account

Admin privileges are required to update users.

To edit a user account, log in with Admin credentials and click on Security tab, then User Admin menu option. 

  • Edit user details
    • To open a user form for edit, click on pen icon for this user. 
    • User email is an account id and can't be changed.
  • Change password
    • To open password change form for a user, click on shield icon for this user. 

Standard users can reset their password via "Forgot Password" on login page.



Create and Manage Conduit Groups

Admin privileges are required to create and manage Conduit user groups.

Log in with Admin credentials and click on Security tab, then Conduit Groups menu option. 

On this page you can create, update and edit Conduit user groups.

To create a group, click Add New Conduit Group button. On opened form please specify:

  • Name - required field. Please note that it can't be changed after the group is saved.
  • Description - optional field for notes about the group. Can be updated at any point.
  • Select user(s) to be assigned as part of this group


To update Conduit group, click on pen icon to open group form.

On Conduit Group form you will be able to review which connectors use this group to grant users permission and which tables.

Only connectors with Authentication type "Conduit Authentication with Impersonation" will be displayed in the connector list.


To delete Conduit group, click on bucket icon for a group that needs to be deleted and then confirm delete action.



Manage Active Directory Groups and Subscriptions

Admin privileges are required to create and manage Active Directory Groups and Subscriptions.

Conduit allows users to establish a link with an Azure Active Directory (AAD) subscription. This gives administrators the option to manage their organization's data access policies centrally in AAD so that they translate automatically to Conduit. This helps to streamline the data that users can explore.


Log in with Admin credentials and click on Security tab, then Active Directory Subscriptions menu option. 

To create link with AAD subscription, click Add New Subscription button. On submit AAD for the specified subscription will be retrieved. 


To review imported AAD groups, go to Security - User Groups - Active Directory Groups.  In Subscription dropdown select subscription for the groups you would like to review. To open AAD group, click on corresponding pen icon.

On Active Directory Group form you will be able to review which connectors use this group to grant users permission and  which tables.

Only connectors with Authentication type "Active Directory Authentication with Impersonation" will be displayed in the connector list.
